On Sunday 9 April members of the junior section of Haslemere Hockey Club and their parents met at The Edge, Woolmer Hill after the final training session of the season to reflect on what had been yet another great year. Chris Meech of Barons of Hindhead, a loyal sponsor of the junior section for the past 15 years, was also present, and food was kindly arranged by the parents.
The number of junior players had increased by 15% in the year, reflecting the emphasis the club puts on coaching, squad management and child protection. Peter Gillespie, Director of Junior Hockey, paid thanks to the many coaches, trainers, squad managers and helpers who all contributed to this success.

The Chilton Trophy, for the most-successful junior team, was awarded to the U14 Boys in recognition of their fantastic season, in which they lost just one match the very first of the season and were worthy joint winners of Wessex Division II league.
U18 Boys prizes will be awarded at a later date. The next season begins on Sunday 17 September, and full details of how to register will be posted later on the club’s website.
