vs Basingstoke Masters - 22 Feb 2015

Home Score: 5 - Opposition Score: 2

Match Result: Win

It was very cold. It was very windy. It was very wet. There was a lot of running around, quite a lot of goals and some good passing from everyone. We won because we scored more than them, in part thanks to some Haslemere "masters-lites". Then we had tea and cake...lovely....

Thanks awfully to Becky "Emkaw"* Mitchell for umpiring.

vs Guildford Masters - 16 Nov 2014

Home Score: 4 - Opposition Score: 0

Match Result: Win

Haslemere ladies masters hosted their first game of the season on Sunday with a friendly against a mostly back-to-hockey team from Guildford. One or two last minute changes needed to be made to the team - thanks to Eryl Chant for stepping in! Although Haslemere dominated, the game was played in great spirit. Thanks to Vanessa Michna on the sideline who rolled the subs in quick succession and it was good to see a mixture of regular ladies 2s, 3s and mums-back-to-hockey and a couple of visitors playing well together. Three 20 minute periods were played and in the last period the Haslemere GK de-kitted and played on the pitch. Susie Fuller and Annie Smith connected well up front resulting in a goal from Susie and then a lovely cross from Annie found Leigh Regan in a great position to slot in a goal.  Sharon Ducker worked her socks off on the right wing, especially in the first period. Once Haslemere had settled, the ball started to be transferred and Heide Evans in left midfield had more to do! Meg Ashworth and Su Mattingly harried the opposition in midfield with good pivotal play. In the last period Annie Smith scored her second, a wonderful goal from a tight angle on the right edge of the D after some good penetrating passes out of defence.

To finish, we all retired to the pavilion for well-earned tea and cake....proper ladies masters hockey!

vs Staines Masters - 18 Nov 2012

Home Score: 0 - Opposition Score: 1

Match Result: Loss

Haslemere Ladies Masters

After a great start for this new team in a new league, with two wins under their belt, the ladies Masters travelled to Staines hopeful of another victory. The first half got off to a promising start with the Haslemere ladies looking confident on the ball. However, the passing was not quite up to speed and Staines began to take control with a series of attacks on the 'Mere goal. Determined keeping by the mighty mini Anne however prevented all attempts on goal by Staines until 'Mere were thwarted by a goal scored by the aggressive Staines attack. The score at half time was 1-0.
A better performance by Haslemere in the second half was encouraging. This actually spurred 'Mere on and although they mounted many attacks on the opposing goal they failed to convert their chances and had to accept a 0-1 defeat.
Huge thanks to umpire Iain Lynch and coach, Darren Rose who travelled with the team for their respective duties and which they fulfilled brilliantly.
