vs Portsmouth and Southsea 1s - 07 Oct 2017

Home Score: 1 - Opposition Score: 1

Match Result: Draw

With a much changed line up, Haslemere L2s, approached the game with much optimism and confidence. Sadly, it was not initially matched by the execution and a lapse of concentration saw the home side concede a soft goal in the opening few minutes. It was not even an early morning push back which might have explained the poor start.

Soon however, Haslemere arrived at the races and produced a confident and well drilled display. Quick passing and intelligent movement both on and off the ball, saw a succession of opportunities to score go agonisingly astray. The only element which was lacking was the finishing into the back of the net. As the match continued and the opportunities continued to creep wide of the post, some in the Haslemere line up may have started to wonder if this was not Haslemere’s day.

It ended up as the tale of two Tash’s. Young keeper, Tash Drover, was called into action a couple of times, saving a couple of shots to ensure that Haslemere did not leave themselves too much to do. In the end, Tash Lewis took matters into her own hands, and with great composure took the ball into the D and and smashed the ball into the top right hand of the goal, leaving the keeper stranded with no chance - Maddy Hinch may have struggle with that one! On another day it would have been the winning goal, but today Haslemere had to settle for the draw.

Final score: 1-1

Man of the match: Sadie Lock

vs Southampton University 1s - 30 Sep 2017

Home Score: 0 - Opposition Score: 6

Match Result: Loss

Not much to say here - a dispiriting loss, which was a shame because there were some very promising passages of play, which bode well for future games.

vs Basingstoke 2s - 06 Dec 2014

Home Score: 0 - Opposition Score: 3

Match Result: Loss

Haslemere faced a tough top of the table opposition away on Saturday morning – a crisp morning where the pitch thawed in front of our eyes before an early 10:15 am PB.  Basingstoke started strongly with some strong passing through their midfield, putting pressure on the defence and new goalie Els Abrahams;  Els kept us in the game with superb reflex saves.

The Basingstoke forwards set up a good press on our 16 yard hits, but we moved the ball strongly enough to escape them for the majority of the match.

Some good breaks in the second half from the Haslemere forwards and halves lead to a few good chances, but no luck getting the ball in the goal!  Special mention to Annie Hendry for committed marking of ‘Stoke’s strongest player throughout the match.
