Match Result: Draw

The ladies 2XI arrived at a sunny bouncy pitched Gosport to secure 3 points today but were only able to walk away with draw, but a point is a point!!

Mere started strong with the 1st goal going to Robyn. She displayed beautiful control of the ball and slotted it past the keeper. Super! 1-0.

Gosport responded quickly with an open play goal catching Mere slightly napping,1-1.

Just as Mere regrouped, disaster struck! with recently returned Sarah Mason going down in agony. With time stopped for injury and Sazzle lifted off to safety, Mere found themselves once again having to rally.  Short corners were created and worked well with Tash Lewis drilling in from the top and Abby Day deflecting, narrowly missing the top left corner.  The others were saved by the keeper and a frantic gosport defence. Unlucky!

Gosport got lucky with their next goal bouncing along over sticks and plopping past Els Abrahams-Burrows. Bit of a shock! 2-1.

Tash responded and scored Meres 2nd goal by picking up and slapping in a quick clever short pass burst. 2-2.

Annie Henry scored a nice dinky goal-but past our very own Els! Oops! 3-2.

In the final stages of the game it all got a bit frantic and desperate but Meres attacking line bit back hard with Robyn eventually tipping in the last goal of the day. Phew! 3-3.

Hard fought to get a point! But beautiful passages of play and much better passing from everyone.  Well done ladies!

Fingers crossed for Sarah's ankle.
