Woolmer Hill was not a place for the faint hearted on Sunday as Haslemere Boys U14's took on New Milton in the Hants Cup quarter finals.

Two very evenly matched sides slugged it out for seventy minutes with Haslemere forcing the encounter to penalty strokes with an equalising goal two minutes before the end of normal time, making the score 2-2. The ensuing penalty barrage ended 4-4 with Haslemere then just losing out when the tie moved to sudden death penalty strokes.

Disappointed though they were, the team could take great heart from a never-say-die performance that combined great skill with real tenacity. The winners were in fact the crowd of parents and HHC members who were treated to one of the best games to be seen at Woolmer Hill this season.
