Last Sunday saw four of our junior teams playing their first league matches of the season. All teams played with great success, giving many players their first match experience of the season in their new squads. The U14 boys and U14 girls, not to be outdone by each other’s scoreline, each returned 6-0 wins; the U18 boys claimed a resounding victory against Portsmouth & Southsea with many goals recorded and the U16 boys just missed out on converting a dominant performance into a winning scoreline against one of Hampshire’s top clubs.

At the start of the season coaches will be selecting large teams and regularly substituting players to assess as many players as quickly as possible under competitive conditions. As players develop in their new squads greater consistency of team selection will become evident.

Larger squads will bring greater competition for places and the coaches are looking forward to the challenge of building even more successful teams this season. Do what you can to be part of those teams – update your availability, attend training and continue to learn!

There’s lots to look forward to in the season ahead!
