The home team went one up soon after the start and for a while it looked as if the game could prove one-sided. However the Haslemere defensive line held on resolutely and turned the pressure on Middleton. A big local derby kicked off Haslemere first warm up game of the 2004/5 season on the club day against recently promoted local rivals Aldershot and Farnham who turned out with a well-drilled squad.
