Match report – 5/6th Oct 2019

Ladies 1’s

A tough game against Fareham 1sts saw our team go down 9-0. Man of the Match Ellie Chester once again stepped up doing a fantastic job in the goals keeping Fareham out for most of the time.

Ladies 2’s

Won 4:2 to Portsmouth having played an excellent first half with a lead of 3:0 at half time – the second half was a little more relaxed.

Ladies 3’s

Lost 3:1 to Winchester, First half was a bit scrappy but Heather commented that in the second half the team rose to the challenge and she commented “If we had done in the first 35 mins what we did in the second we would have managed a great scoreline”

Ladies 4’s

Once again a player down and now with a keeper “no show” they purloined the 5ths keeper, Cerys. First half was a struggle and the game went back and forth – some early season nerves were showing. Mel joined halfway through the game significantly boosting the number of goal opportunities and leading to a flurry of shots on the Chichester keeper finally resulting in 2 solid goals from Mel’s crosses.

Ladies 5’s

Our ladies 5s (playing Basingstoke) were hampered by being down 1 player and then (to add insult to injury) losing their keeper at the last minute to the 4ths who were in a worse state. The young team (But oh so enthusiastic squad) regretfully lost heavily however showing HUGE spirit and carried on fighting to the end – well done girls.

U12 – Fleet & Ewshot – 7s

Boys & Girls

A great day was had by all with some amazing hockey – Both teams had fantastic results winning all their games, in nearly all instances with very high margins. Their were several hat tricks and great team play – unfortunately the girls keeper did not even touch the ball with some fantastic defending.

All in all a great afternoon – AND – not forgetting Tillys birthday!

U8s and U10’s – Fareham – 7s

Great turn out by both under 8s and under 10s teams at the early season Fareham Tournament.  With 6 teams entered from Haslemere across both age groups we have a lot of great new players working their way up the club.  Special mention to the Under 10s Boys 1st team who won every match played and Jake Klein scoring 14 goals…

Mens 1’s

A narrow loss to local rivals Surrey Spartans (2:3)

Mens 2’s

Great home win against Alton (3:2)

Mens 3’s

No game this week – the opposition cancelled… (clearly worried)

Mens 4’s

After last week’s tricky game against Chichester Haslemere 4s were much improved this week, narrowly losing 2-1 away against Fareham.  Special mention to debuts from Ollie Crombie, Charlie Loveday and James Collinson (who also bagged the Haslemere goal)

Mens 5’s

  • This was to date the youngest 5th XI ever fielded.
  • Great start to the game with 2 early goals. 1st goal by Oscar from an open play passing bonanza. 2nd goal from a dramatic flick from A sharp angle after some goalie scraps.
  • Dan slotted from the top after a nice rebound off the Goalie
  • Zac hit from left wing to bottom corner for the final goal despite many other close shots.
  • Great result with no shorts conceded but one strong goal from the opposition. final score 4-1 to the good!

Player of the Match – Gus Hanbury.

Mens Masters

Masters played an entertaining match v Windsor at home. An even contest in the middle of the park but Haslemere were far more consistent at keeping the ball and spreading wide. 4-2 to Haslemere the final result with goals from David Mayson, Brent Bottoms, Tony Gerrard & Adrian Potter.

The team voted on man-of-the-match which was a three-way tie between Allan James for stalwart defence and shutting down, David Mayson for his mid-field distribution & Tony Gerrard for his selfless commitment up front.
