The weekend of the 21st June 2019 saw the 8th Chiltsfest. As ever the Chiltfests aim is to have a weekend of hockey that is balanced by a social event second to none.
Hockey is played during the day with the Saturday evening being reserved for a fancy dress party – this year the theme was “The Musicals”
Sunday sees a bit of a “recovery” from the prior evening’s festivities with some vague attempts to play hockey!
This year we had 15 teams in total and had people travelling from far and wide to attend the party (or play hockey?) – the furthest being the old faithfuls from Holland.
Of note is that we had 4 new teams as well as loads of old faithfuls and lets not forget the amazing Romsey ladies who have attended all 8 Chiltsfests!
With fantastic weather, we all managed to stay dry (ie our tents were not flooded!) and we even needed sun tan lotion!
Saturday consisted of some great social hockey later in the day everyone started to prep for the evening shindig themed – “The Musicals”
Romsey excelled themselves with a theme of Alice in Wonderland and won the prize for the best dressed team!
The winners – Surbiton ladies won the “Chiltsfest “ trophy for the best touring team, an impressive effort in their first year.
Next year will be 9th Chiltsfest – we will update when dates etc are defined.
