A letter from Jess Edwards the new Ladies Club Captain.
I hope you are all well and are enjoying the summer.
I would like to welcome you all back to another season of Hockey and to also welcome our new players this season.
For those of you that don’t know me, I am Jess Edwards and I have taken over from Abbie Walhen, as Ladies Club Captain. Abbie has done a fantastic job in supporting our Ladies section and I hope I will be able to do the same.
As you should have all seen from Mel’s (Director of Hockey) recent message, there has been a few changes taking place over the Summer, what with a new website, new kit, new captains, Teamo and changes to the ladies training set up. All very exciting!
Ladies training will take place on ATP1 at Woolmer Hill Sports Ground, Haslemere, Surrey, GU27 1QA and will look like:
Ladies Club training will be taken by Pete Crook, Andrew Howard and Tony Richards. This will be a whole club session, predominantly based around games and scenarios.
Ladies 1s training will be taken by Pete Crook. This session will be for the Ladies 1s squad and invited players from the rest of the ladies section.
Ladies Back to Hockey will be taken by Andrew Howard. This session is for Ladies who are looking to start playing hockey or returning to hockey. This will not be a full club session.
Girls Development training will be taken by Pete Crook. This session is for invited u17 players entering the ladies section. It is a mixture of skill development and game play to help make the transition from junior hockey to adult hockey easier.
The purpose of the move to a whole club session, will be to have a more cohesive approach to the ladies section, with the coaching team aligned to a set of principles from ladies 1s down to ladies 5s. It will allow those players playing across different squads to play with a range of players and experience different environments. We believe this will help with junior integration and development, as well as being able to see the ladies section as a whole, making movement and flexibility between the squads much more fluid.
We will be looking into selection closer to the season, but if you are unsure which training group you should be attending then please do not hesitate to contact me.
We will be inputting all training sessions and fixtures onto Teamo prior to the season and you will be asked to update your availability for both on here. I really want to stress the importance of keeping your availability as up to date as possible as it really helps the captains, coaches and myself to pick the teams.
League fixtures will start on the 28th September for Ladies Teams 2 to 5 and the 21st September for Ladies 1s. Prior to this there will also be some friendly matches happening and Club Day on Saturday 7th September, so please keep an eye on Teamo for more information and update your availability.
Please remember there are lots of people dedicating their spare time to make Haslemere Hockey Club what it is, and this year we will be looking for your support and asking you to help in any small way you can. Captains will be sending out more information about this, so please offer to help where you can.
I also wanted to remind you about the changes to kit this season. As you will have seen we have changed our kit supplier and everyone will need to update their Skort and Shirts to the new kit this year. If anyone is having any problems with this or for anyone who doesn’t have a club number, please let me know. For those of you that have purchased kit, we are hoping to get this to you at Club Day. For generic kit enquiries please contact Nick Daniels. To view the kit or visit the new kit website please click here.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the upcoming season, then please feel free to contact me.
Here’s to a fun and successful year and I look forward to seeing you all on the hockey pitch.
