Despite starting this match against Amersham & Chalfont with only 10 players and a number of regular players unavailable, Haslemere applied immediate pressure on the opposition, passing the ball cleanly and moving into space and opening up the home defence. With less than ten minutes on the watch, Ian Lynch had scored two excellent goals, both from well worked moves down the middle of the pitch, both involving skilful runs by Nigel Skeffington, making a very welcome return to the side after too long an absence. For the rest of the half, Haslemere took their foot off the attacking pedal a bit and the half time score remained at 2 - 0, despite John Roberts bringing the team strength back up to eleven.
As in previous weeks, captain Mike Milne-Home's half time talk reminded Haslemere of the need to stick to the agreed attacking formation, and for most of the second half the pressure was on the Amersham & Chalfont defence. Eventually a solo run by John Roberts led to a pass in front of goal which Ian Lynch once again converted to make it a hat-trick, and this was followed by John Roberts scoring his own goal when one on one with the keeper and nearly blasting him into the goal to make it 4 - 0! In the dying minutes, Amersham & Chalfont did manage to break and pull one goal back, but the final result did justice to Haslemere's domination of this match and excellent team work.
