About HHC
Be you member, friend or visitor, we very much hope you will enjoy playing, watching or socialising with us at our club on Woolmer Hill in Haslemere.
Our happy band of founder members back in 1946 would doubtless be amazed to see the changes which nigh on sixty years have brought to hockey in general and, particularly over the last decade or so, to the Haslemere club.
During this period, HHC has been transformed into one of the most dynamic clubs in the South of England. Central to this has been the development of an excellent clubhouse, two on-site astroturf pitches and a sports hall (with indoor hockey arena), facilities of which we are justifiably very proud.
The club runs five men's and three ladies' teams which train on midweek evenings and play on Saturday afternoons, and a thriving junior section (containing ten squads) which trains and plays on Sunday mornings. With an overall membership base of over 450 people, hockey is very well represented in Haslemere and the surrounding area.
Although HHC aspires to be the best on the pitch, its members' also believe that hockey should be fun. Their philosophy is possibly best expressed in the abbreviated piece of verse that follows (courtesy of our Hon Life Member, Eric Thomson and with his apologies to James Boswell and WS Gilbert);
We're fifty years old and going for gold,
And pleasure's the nub and hub of all;
Yes, win lose or draw, enjoyment's our law
And we're the most clubbable club of all!
